MTN Foundation and MUSON Announce 18th Annual Scholarship for Aspiring Nigerian Musicians

The MTN Foundation, in collaboration with the Musical Society of Nigeria (MUSON), has announced the opening of applications for the MTN MUSON School of Music Scholarship, marking its 18th year. This scholarship is designed to nurture and support the next generation of Nigerian musicians by offering a fully funded two-year diploma course in music. The programme provides a unique opportunity for talented individuals to receive world-class training and mentorship from MUSON’s esteemed faculty.

The scholarship caters to both vocal and instrumental music disciplines, with a curriculum tailored to the specific needs of the students. Vocal majors will receive intensive training to enhance their vocal techniques, range, and expressiveness. Instrumental majors will be offered personalized instruction on various classical music instruments, including the piano, violin, cello, and flute, aiming to achieve proficiency and mastery in their chosen instrument.

Odunayo Sanya, the executive director of MTN Foundation, expressed enthusiasm for the programme, highlighting MTN Foundation’s commitment to empowering young Nigerians and preserving the country’s rich cultural heritage. The scholarship covers tuition, books, transportation expenses, access to MUSON’s state-of-the-art facilities, and performance opportunities at the school’s concerts and events.
